The incumbent will be reporting to the Director, Major gifts, the incumbent is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the Tiffany Circle Program within the Major Gifts channel and directing women\xe2\x80\x99s philanthropy efforts across the organization. The Associate Director is responsible for the cultivation, recruitment, engagement and retention activities and events. The incumbent is accountable for building relationships with key stakeholders and securing philanthropic commitments from a personal portfolio of donors at the $25,000 and greater gift level. As a senior member of the Philanthropy team, the Associate Director will work collaboratively with a group of professionals representing all facets of fundraising (major giving, planned giving, corporate, community engagement, direct marketing) to achieve the Canadian Red Cross\xe2\x80\x99 goals in support of our mission. While the role is based in Toronto, the Associate Director will also work with the Major Giving team across Canada regarding Tiffany Circle Members and woman donors in their geographies. In this role, you will: Responsibility 1: Strategic Planning and Execution for Tiffany Circle and Women in Philanthropy Programs
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term strategic and business plans within a national philanthropy strategy framework.
  • Ensure that objectives, project, and critical paths for fundraising initiatives are being met and makes adjustments as needed
  • Develop annual revenue and expense budgets by providing analysis and forecasts; maintains close control of expenditures throughout the year.
  • Ensure the delivery of exemplary, donor-centric programs in collaboration with the Director, Major Gifts
Responsibility 2: Plan, manage, implement, and evaluate Women in Philanthropy programs
  • Develop and implements national strategies, activities, and recruitment plans in collaboration with National staff
  • In collaboration with the Development Coordinator, Major Gifts oversees new member onboarding, membership training and orientation, and national communication with members.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for local, regional, provincial, national, and international recruitment and educational events
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager, Events and Engagement to plan and execute the Annual Tiffany Circle Anniversary Event, as well as additional virtual and in-person stewardship and engagement events
  • Collaborate with Communications and Philanthropy Hubs to develop marketing materials and update the website.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Tiffany Circle and other Women In Philanthropy programs and collaborate with Tiffany Circle staff in International Red Cross Societies
Responsibility 3: Diversity, Equity and Belonging Within Women in Philanthropy Programs
  • In consultation with the Senior Director, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, lead the development and implementation of a diversity, equity and belonging framework, provide education and training and support the ongoing work of creating more inclusive programs through foundational changes to policies and practices.
  • Recommend new programs and initiatives or changes to existing ones that will support members and donors from equity-seeking groups.
  • Ensure that the diversity, equity and belonging framework is integrated into decisions, policies, and programs with a focus on identifying and eliminating systemic barriers and inequities, including, but not limited to, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, creed, and disability.
  • Foster strong and mutually beneficial relationships with senior leadership, staff and volunteers working to address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and drive change.
Responsibility 4: Women In Philanthropy Revenue Generation
  • Maintain a portfolio of individual and family foundation donors and prospects and personally conducts cultivation meetings (virtually and in-person), solicitations calls and stewardship activities
  • Develop detailed cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and executes plans for each donor prospect
  • Work collaboratively with the Information Management & Analytics team to identify and qualify new donor prospects
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Major Gifts, and the National Philanthropy Team to assign and activate new donor prospects.
  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate Partnerships, Foundations and Grants and Direct Marketing teams to identify, develop and implement new initiatives and programs to increase engagement opportunities and revenue generation from existing and new women donors.
  • Strategically involves and supports senior leaders and executives and senior volunteer solicitors in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors.
  • Provide leadership to the Major Giving team in the recruitment of volunteer champions to support fundraising initiatives
  • Provide fundraising support as required for emergency appeals
  • Participate in disaster planning, preparation, and response as needed
What we are looking for:
  • The minimum qualifications for this job are a post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications or Administration and between six to ten years of major gift-related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A strong background in an Equity, Diversity and Belonging field, equity studies or related field is an asset.
  • Significant experience in major gift solicitation, closing gifts and donor circles or societies. The role involves building strong relationships with prospective and current donors from across Canada, other senior volunteers, and the senior leadership team.
  • Experience in volunteer management is required.
  • A growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in public speaking and presentations, are required
  • Strong judgment and ability to make meaningful connections and represent the Canadian Red Cross with stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience in developing and analyzing business cases and opportunities
  • Experience working productively and positively with senior-level volunteers and leadership volunteers
  • Proactive approach with strong critical thinking, business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and a readiness to accept and respect others
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple conflicting demands, ambiguity and changing circumstances and demonstrated positive experience working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud-based CRM databases and highly developed computer skills with ability in Google suites and Microsoft Office
  • Motivated and able to work in an inclusive and collaborative team environment, as well as independently

Working conditions:
  • This incumbent will work from home full-time, with flexible shared workspaces available when required.
  • This position may require non-traditional hours to execute events, meet the needs of donors and volunteers and during times of disaster or appeal.
  • A current driver\'s license and the use of a car are necessary.
  • Travel throughout the community, province and country is occasionally needed.
