Associate Dean, Student Affairs

Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean of Student Affairs is the student experience liaison between student service providers and professionals across campus, for academics in the College of Arts & Science, for the university's senior leadership team and for students. The Associate Dean leads our college's student services team and works to enhance the student experience, support student recruitment, transition, and success, and foster a sense of student identity with the college and the university.

The Associate Dean of Student Affairs faces challenges and opportunities unique to the largest direct-entry college on campus with the greatest programmatic breadth. In addition to being the college of destination for students pursuing Arts & Science degrees, Arts & Science delivers academic programming to the vast majority of undergraduate students on campus and serves as a starting point for students seeking admission to professional colleges.

A PhD and/or terminal degree with a proven track record in teaching and success in managing a large program is required. Recent experience working to support the needs of a diverse undergraduate student body would be an asset. Demonstrated success in leading people to achieve exemplary performance and outcomes is essential. A high level of proficiency in personal effectiveness and relationship building competencies is vital.

This is an internal search limited to faculty members who hold a tenured appointment in the College of Arts & Science. This position is intended to begin either 1 January 2023 or 1 July 2023 and is classified as an out-of-scope administrative position with an initial term of five years, with the possibility of renewal.
