Associate, Audit Business Program (January 2023)

Internal Audit at RBC is constantly evolving and transforming the way we work. As a microcosm of RBC, Internal Audit offers a holistic view of the entire enterprise and delivers valuable advice that provides assurance, advice and insight to our clients, while proactively adding value to the bank. Leveraging unique perspectives, we use innovative tools and practices to connect intelligence to protect and enable RBC. From learning and leadership development, to adopting best-in-class tools and practices, our Audit Ascend strategy is accelerating our journey into the new world of work.

Join RBC's Audit Business Program (ABP) in January 2023 and gain experience across multiple RBC lines of business while working closely with industry leaders and experts across various groups, such as Finance, Data and Analytics, Operations, Information Technology and Human Resources, etc. You will be provided with significant learning opportunities by working with different teams that will help develop new skills, build business and audit knowledge, and grow your network. Through dynamic and challenging work assignments, the ABP will help to build the future leaders of RBC. Over the course of this 12 month program, Associates will operate in a global resource model, capable of working in any RBC business audit platform, including:

  • Capital Markets
  • Wealth Management
  • Personal & Commercial Banking
  • Investor & Treasury Services
  • Insurance
You will have the opportunity to:

Make an impact by providing your insight and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices and governance processes in order to draw conclusions. Gain professional experience executing audits and advising and collaborating with the business.

Act as a trusted advisor by identifying key risks and potential business impacts. Develop and draft recommendations relating to audit program conclusions and present and discuss findings to senior leaders.

Develop strategies and participate in transformation and change management initiatives while working with industry and business leaders.

Utilize innovative data analytics tools and technologies, such as RPA, AI and visualization tools like Tableau, to automate processes and discover patterns, insights, trends and anomalies from data sets.

What are we looking for?

In RBC's Internal Audit group, a background in audit is not a requirement - we're looking for curious and exceptional people who have a passion for learning and development, and a strong interest in increasing their knowledge about what we do and building upon their experiences.

Specifically, we are looking for:
  • 1-2 years of experience (including co-op and/or internship experience), preferably in the business sector, audit/risk management, consulting or a comparable business field.
  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, quantitative analysis, mathematics or related field.
  • Diverse range of leadership activities, such as student club involvement and/or case competitions, with excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curious minded and thrives on tackling challenging issues and creating novel solutions, with strong people building and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work, communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals across all levels in the organization.
  • A problem solver who is eager to be involved with a positive attitude.
