Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Assistant Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. You will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. Your expertise in food safety and handling will ensure that all dishes are prepared in a clean and efficient manner.

Duties

Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled in compliance with food safety regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including tools, equipment, and work surfaces. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation during peak hours. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of sushi ingredients and placing orders as needed. Provide exceptional service by engaging with customers when necessary to enhance their dining experience. Stay updated on current food trends and techniques to continually improve menu offerings.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is required, with a focus on food service or meal preparation preferred. Familiarity with food handling practices and food safety regulations is essential. Experience in the food industry, particularly in sushi making or Japanese cuisine, is highly desirable. Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on cooking techniques relevant to sushi preparation. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
