Position Description:
The Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology (GBDO) at McGill University and St-Mary's Research Centre (MWI-IHSSC) invite applications for a position in the area of cancer epidemiology and quantitative methodology. The successful applicant will hold an academic appointment as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of full-time Assistant Professor (Research). This position does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The incumbent will have office space at the GBDO and at St. Mary's Research Centre (SMRC) and will capitalize on St. Mary's unique focus on patient-centeredness, proximity, and continuity of care.

As a member of McGill's GBDO, and of SMRC, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to enriching the academic and educational missions of both the university and the Research Centre. The incumbent will be responsible for developing research activities and to contribute to classroom teaching and graduate student supervision in GBDO and other departments relevant to their expertise.

Job Duties:
The successful candidate will carry out an independently-funded research program and acquire sufficient funds to support training of graduate students at the MSc and PhD level.

The successful applicant will be expected to:
1) Develop an independent, innovative research program in their areas of expertise within the broad context of cancer epidemiology. Examples of high-value research topics include, but are not limited to:
- Covid-19 and cancer;
- Optimizing the continuum of cancer care from community-wide screening to end of life;
- Population-level challenges in safe transitions across the continuum of cancer care;
- Strengthening access to cancer services in high-risk populations;
- Effectiveness of the cancer care continuum in high-risk populations.
2) Actively engage in graduate teaching (up to 3 credits per year) at the GBDO and other relevant units based on expertise;
3) Train and support a diverse group of graduate students at the MSc and PhD levels as well as postdoctoral fellows;
4) Consult on epidemiological study designs of other GBDO and SMRC research teams;
5) Be actively involved in SMRC and GBDO academic missions through participation in academic and administrative committees and structured scientific programming (research seminars, journal clubs).

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Requirements:

PhD in a discipline relevant to Population Science (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics) or related field;

Evidence of strong research productivity, with a demonstrated ability to attract competitive funding;

Be within 7 years of completing postdoctoral training;

Have a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within a few years of appointment.
