The University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Dentistry is recruiting two outstanding candidates for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in either the Department of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences (OBMS) or Oral Health Sciences (OHS) supported through the UBC President\xe2\x80\x99s Academic Excellence Initiative. The successful candidates will join the newly-formed \xe2\x80\x98Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders\xe2\x80\x99 (CODED) research cluster. The CODED cluster encompasses basic sciences, translational, and clinical research focusing on craniofacial, oral, and dental genetic disorders. CODED fosters and promotes basic science, translational and clinical research based on partnerships among UBC Faculties, BC Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital and various other national healthcare facilities. These positions provide a great opportunity to establish a productive independent research program within a collaborative environment at a globally recognized dental school and university.
Successful applicants must hold a Ph.D. and have postdoctoral experience. Candidates with both a Ph.D. and either a D.D.S. / D.M.D. or M.D. degree are highly encouraged to apply. Competitive candidates must show an ability to develop a vigorous and independent, externally funded and recognized research program; demonstrate teaching excellence and a commitment to diversity inclusion; and participate (teaching and supervising) in relevant undergraduate and graduate education programs.
Successful candidates will have an accomplished research in human medical genetics/genomics, computational modeling of human disorders, developmental biology and gene regulation including tissue regeneration and have relevant expertise in studying foundational, clinical, or translational aspects of human craniofacial/dental genetic disorders. Candidates with existing federal funded research grants or other independent foundation support are preferred and strongly encouraged to apply.
