The department of Mechanical Engineering at BCIT offers diplomas and an accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering. The primary goal of the programs is to graduate highly-qualified, practical mechanical technologists and engineers who are eligible for professional registration.

BCIT\xe2\x80\x99s School of Energy is currently seeking a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE ) Assistant Instructor who is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with broad practical knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals. The successful applicant can expect to provide lab and tutorial assistance across a broad range of the mechanical engineering discipline. The applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and an interest in delivering quality curriculum.


Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Assistant Instructor may lead labs and tutorials in some of the following areas:

• Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals (statics, dynamics, strength of materials)
• Engineering Graphics and CAD
• Manufacturing Processes
• Industrial Control and Mechatronics including PLCs

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related credential.
• Relevant industry experience in an engineering environment.
• Proficient in engineering computer applications including strong CAD skills.
• Strong digital literacy skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English Language.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Instructional experience is an asset.

Salary Range
Salary Range: $59,609 - $81,598 per annum.


Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
