Assistant Program Manager & Primary Educator (Opening Manager)

-- an organized, relationship-centered leader who is passionate about supporting educators, families, and students in a vibrant and responsive early years community. Previous leadership experience is considered an asset but not a requirement. At Blum, we nurture talent and offer a robust Lasting Leader Program.

About the Role



The Assistant Program Manager works as a vital member of the

Leadership Team

while also serving as a

Primary Educator

in one of our classrooms. This dual role ensures a deep connection to both the heart of the program and the day-to-day flow of operations.

As

Opening Manager

, you will begin each day by preparing the Academy for smooth operations -- welcoming families and students, ensuring classrooms are ready, and setting the tone for a joyful, calm, and organized start to the day.

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities



Opening Manager Duties



Oversee the morning opening routine, ensuring the Academy is calm, welcoming, and operationally ready Greet families and students each morning, supporting a positive and professional arrival experience Support educators in preparing classrooms and materials for the day Communicate any morning updates or ratio adjustments to the Program Manager

Leadership & Program Coordination



Collaborate with Educators to maintain high-quality Montessori and Reggio-inspired environments Support with daily team scheduling, ratios, and classroom coverage planning Assist in family communications: daily updates, check-ins, and community building Help coordinate special projects, field trips, and classroom materials management Track licensing documentation, attendance, and health & safety checklists Support onboarding of new team members and coach educators on best practices Maintain supply inventories, and assist with ordering and budget tracking Step into leadership coverage when the Program Manager is off-site

Primary Educator Duties



Plan and implement developmentally responsive, Reggio and Montessori-inspired learning experiences Build meaningful relationships with students and families through intentional interactions and documentation Support children's independence, creativity, and confidence through thoughtful guidance and observation Contribute to the culture of kindness, respect, and collaboration within the classroom

Qualifications



Alberta Level 3 Early Childhood Educator Certification

Minimum 3 years of experience in licensed early learning settings Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills Comfort with digital tools (Google Workspace, childcare software) Valid

First Aid & CPR

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.50-$19.60 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
