About the Position

Reporting to the Centre Director, the Assistant Director is an integral member of the Kids & Company team responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the centre.

This role supports the delivery of high-quality childcare through the conscientious application of Kids & Company standards to achieve our mission: to provide quality primary and backup childcare services that help families and corporations achieve a healthy work/life balance.

Please note: We currently looking to fill a mat leave contract to July 2027!

Responsibilities

Support children's emotional, physical, and behavioral well-being, while helping develop their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills Implement an Emergent Curriculum that encourages curiosity and learning through play Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and record-keeping Conduct daily attendance, health, and safety checks Collaborate with professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Early Interventionists as needed Support children through transitions in and out of classrooms Ensure all classroom ratios and standards are met as outlined in Nova Scotia licensing regulations Participate in and help lead staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops Assist the Centre Director with child and staff files, ministry requirements, and operational needs

What You Need

Valid Nova Scotia ECE License Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 45 lbs
