My client, a regional supra-municipal organization, is looking for an Assistant Director General to join their leadership team in Kuujjuaq, Quebec. Reporting to the Director General, you will coordinate and manage the operational affairs of the regional government including oversight of 13 governmental departments.

What the Assistant Director General does:
  • Supporting the Director General with developing and executing all projects, files, and programs of the local government
  • Participate in the negotiation and renewal of agreements with governments and organization as well as in the negotiation and renewal of collective agreements with staff
  • Supervise the work of the department directors as assigned and communicate to the Director General on the progress of files and achievement of objectives
  • Support the Director General in the preparation of the annual budget of over $220 million and follow-up and review monthly budget variance reports and review the annual financial statements
  • Oversee the coordination and planning of Council meetings
  • Participate in meetings of the Executive Committee and of the Council
  • Perform the duties of the Director General in their absence
  • Assist with other duties when required
What the successful candidate will bring:
  • University degree in administration or in a related discipline - a combination of post secondary studies and experience equivalencies may be considered for this position
  • Previous experience in a senior management role, preferably in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in municipal management and economic development
  • Proven track record in operational, financial, and budget management
  • Proficient comprehension of the operation of the federal and Quebec governments
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Written and verbal fluency ideally in two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and French
  • Must be ability to travel and be comfortable living in a remote community
