We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB. Role Purpose To perform security functions, control entry and exit to NML mine site, prevent loss and damage to NML assets, support mine personnel. Security and protection of all employees and NML contractor personnel. To engage personnel and identify personal safety concerns, wellness concerns or sensitive workplace issues. Support employee wellness and promote a safe and inclusive workplace. We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation. Accountabilities: Safety

  • Ensures the safety of self, team members and others through engagement and active participation in Newsafe.
  • Engages proactive safety behaviours within the team and other departments when required.
  • Certifies all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE and Security requirements.
People
  • Forms parts of the security team and provides feedback on Security deficiencies and/or security breaches.
  • Makes appropriate decisions commensurate with best practices in Security and surveillance processes.
  • Works well in a team environment and contributes to the Security departments strategic goals and direction.
  • Takes an active role in promoting proactive and innovative security measures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate relationships with external partners including corporate entities, First Nations, and contractors.
  • Understand Human Rights principals and promote mental health wellness by providing information, support, and guidance.
Security
  • Ensures all emergency responses are conducted in a safe, effective and timely manner.
  • Adheres to the Newcrest Code of Conduct and the Newcrest Values and Human Rights Principles.
  • Assist with investigations into incidents of thefts, mischief and other criminal conduct, Security breaches and serious incidents on site.
Mental health
  • Promote both mental and physical health, wellness and the overall well-being of employees through assisting them in reporting incidents or issues, or accessing support and services.
Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years previous security/law enforcement experience required

  • Relevant asset protection / security certification desired

  • Previous relevant investigative experience

  • Training in trauma response and peer support desired

  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong, non-confrontational communication skills
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions, including high pressure and potentially confrontational situations
Technical Capabilities
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, MS Teams
  • Ability to operate and interpret basic technical Security equipment, such as:
    • Guard tour systems;
    • Monitoring and tracking devices; including but not limited to CCTV
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Ability to report on fundamental security requirements including but not limited to:
    • Security surveys;
    • Operating procedures;
    • Field level risk assessments
  • Ability to initiate, conduct, and write factual and chronological security incident, and investigational reports
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security Industry, Federal & Provincial legislation relating to:
    • Human rights;
    • Use of force;
    • Powers of arrest; and
    • Trespass.
