The Opportunity:
Our team of Asset Integrity Engineers implements a wide variety of inspection, repair, risk assessment, and corrosion management technologies to ensure that our Asset Integrity Programs are executed with optimal effectiveness on Canadian Natural infrastructure including an extensive network of pipelines that move our products to various end points largely located in Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC.
These roles interface closely with Field Integrity, Production Engineering, and Operations groups, and gain exposure to all technical elements of Asset Integrity for pipelines, pressure equipment piping, tanks and structural components. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about the upstream energy industry, regulatory and corporate standards. Students will become familiar with many of the engineering tools used in pipeline systems in addition to gaining integrity experience in a wide array of different pipeline types. The student will have a predominant work load performed in Calgary office, however field site visits maybe required.
Key Accountabilities:

  • Review and complete engineering assessments for new and existing pipeline systems
  • Develop corrosion mitigation and inspection strategies for pipelines, plant and pressure piping
  • Review and track Key Performance Indicators to ensure asset integrity targets are being monitored and maintained
  • Provide materials engineering support to ongoing operation, maintenance and new projects
  • Participate in metallurgical failure analyses of failed components
  • Perform analysis of inspection and failure data and provide engineering recommendations for ongoing repair and mitigation strategies

  • Term length: 8 to 12 months
  • Term start: January or May 2023
  • Job location: Calgary, AB - Head Office, Horizon or Albian Mine operations, north of Fort McMurray, AB
  • Work schedule: Various

  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor Degree program in Materials Engineering preferred, Mechanical Engineering acceptable
  • Previous integrity and reliability related engineering or field experience is considered an asset
  • Required to be physically and mentally fit for work.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract.
  • A pre-employment drug and alcohol test must be completed.
