Asphalt Preservation Supervisor




Beamish Construction is looking for a hardworking, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Asphalt Preservation Supervisor in Sudbury, ON. This position will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, independence, and understanding of asphalt preservation and maintenance. This is a full-time permanent position available with competitive wages and a benefits package.


JOB DUTIES:




Receive, prioritize, plan and oversee daily asphalt and paving activities with responsibility for labourers and paving crews, providing real time guidance and direction. Schedule labour and equipment for asphalt related work, such as: raking, smoothing and tamping related to the pavement, re-surfacing and repair. Coordinate and confirm on-site measuring and truck coordination for asphalt supply. Ensure work is done safely and established safety practices are strictly followed. Conduct regular inspections of paving work and materials to identify and address issues. Ensure accurate record keeping of daily work records, invoices, and timesheets. Train and/or coach less experienced operators or labourers on the crew. Must be able to work shifts including days, nights, and weekends when required. Frequent travel to job sites with overnight stays as required throughout the construction season. Work in inclement weather conditions. Display professionalism toward our company and customers. Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment. Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Perform related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:




Education:




Minimum three (3) years' experience in the paving and road construction industry is considered an asset. Prior experience with Micro surfacing, Slurry seal, and/or Surface Treatment is considered an asset. Valid G class driver's license is required. Construction-related post-secondary education or equivalent experience is considered an asset. Minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership role in the construction industry is considered an asset. High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




Familiar with all aspects of paving and road construction. Understanding of surface treatment, slurry seal, and micro surfacing. Familiar with safety regulations and industry standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work. Excellent attention to detail, as well as strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership skills with the ability to identify performance gaps, coaching and mentoring the paving crew to encourage efficiency and teamwork. Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
