Position Overview: We are looking for a part-time summer intern who is passionate about the arts and enriching the community with engaging and meaningful events. In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of the Arts & Events team, assisting with the Cultural Asset Mapping Project, and participating with public events such as Canada Day and Indigenous People\xe2\x80\x99s Day. Our Arts & Events Department provides exciting opportunities to gain valuable insight into community programs and events in a municipal environment. Community engagement, data entry, and event coordination are core responsibilities for the successful candidate, with some public art maintenance.


Ability to kneel, bend, and lift up to 30lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 5 hours (long events, such as Canada day).


Hours: 28hours/week. Monday to Saturday. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
Contract: May 23 to September 1, 2023 (flexible).

The ability to engage with members of the public \xe2\x80\x93 asking the right questions, learning about the community perspective, and building relationships \xe2\x80\x93 is essential for the success of this role and the Cultural Asset Mapping Project. You must approach conflict and concerns with positive assumptions, curiosity, and open mindedness. At least 1 year of post-secondary school or 3 years of experience in community engagement or arts management is required. Having experience in public speaking or engagement, events coordination or management, and data collection or entry is an asset.
