Overview:
The Commercial Sales Manager for Ready-Mix, reporting to the General Manager, GCA Ready-Mix, leads the sales team committed to safety excellence, driven to be the employer of choice, while providing industry leading service and solutions. The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing the sales department and interacting with other department heads to success. Responsibilities:

  • Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies and procedures
  • Manages and leads the sales team to meet goals and objectives
  • Drives revenue through increased sales and solution selling to optimize opportunities to maintain and grow customer base
  • Maintains a strong grasp of all competitors' actions, prices and strategy. Proactively recommends and implements actions to maintain Lafarge's position in the market
  • Coordinates sales and service with other Lafarge divisions
  • Ensures that relationships are solid through meeting daily visit targets per day with clients, site superintendents, project managers and subcontractors, on site and at offices
  • Follows kickoff meeting criteria. Provide direction and assistance in the coordination of deliveries to all projects
  • Works with customers to resolve site related or account problems
  • Chairs monthly sales meetings and other meetings as outlined in SFE program
  • Develops action plans to meet the individual team member's goals and objectives
  • Develops identified persons of interest towards their next career move
  • Develops and manages a local strategy of growth and sustainability
  • Creates internal process for the sales department
  • Develops and implements continuous improvement processes and strategies for sales department.
  • Responsible for sales activities, monitoring, analysis and explanation of variances
  • Ensures that processes and practices are in place to meet monthly accounts receivable targets.
  • Manages all aspects of employment relationship for employees including but not limited to recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, and discipline if/when required
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Sciences, Technical Diploma, or related experience
  • Minimum of five years construction industry experience
  • Minimum of five years concrete ready mix experience preferred
  • Require sales experience within industry
  • Require managerial or supervisory experience
  • LEED certification
  • Demonstrated strong application user skills for MS Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at intermediate level
  • Experience using sales program such as CRM or salesforce.com preferred
  • Experience using an ERP/ SAP system preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, able to quickly build and maintain positive working relationships
  • Strong sales ability, can quickly understand customer needs and provide solutions
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills; a self-starter
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management skills essential
  • Independent thinker
  • Ability to negotiate skilfully in tough situations without damaging relationships
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates positive customer service attitude
