Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an Architectural Technologist with a minimum of 7-10 years' experience of drafting in a Canadian Architectural office. The successful candidate will be energetic, self-motivated and capable of assuming increasing responsibility for current and future projects. Proficiency in design development, working drawings and contract administration is essential. Mastery of Revit, AutoCAD latest version, Bluebeam and Office 365 is required. Proficiency in Sketch-up, Adobe Creative Suite are an asset.
Responsibilities:
Provide working and design development drawings and specifications that meet the intent of the project to which he/she is assigned
Review and coordinate drawings from consultants
Obtain and coordinate consultant proposals
Provide drawings and documents for all necessary approvals as required
Expedite and assist with the approvals of projects by the relevant Municipal, Provincial and Federal government departments and representatives or as may otherwise be required from independent agencies
Attend on project sites to review construction
Provide appropriate instructions and drawings throughout the construction process
Attend on and participate in discussions and meetings with clients to review drawings and expedite their requirements throughout the design, drawings, and construction process
Manage and oversee consultants as required throughout the construction process
Prepare room finish, doors and window schedules
Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Project Leader
Qualifications:
At least 7-10 years' Canadian (extra credit to Ontario) working experience in an Architectural Firm preparing drawings, coordinating approvals and permit submissions
Demonstrated and working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC) esp. Parts 3 and 9
Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultant disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical, landscape and interior design
Speed and accuracy using Revit and AutoCad is a MUST
3D visualization and rendering capabilities
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building assemblies, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers requirements
Excellent communication both verbal and written skills
Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy as part of both a collaborative team and individual
Drivers license required*
Required Education:
Diploma in Architectural Technology OR Bachelor of Architectural Studies (or equivalent program) OR Masters in Architecture
