Reporting to the Heritage Stewardship and Archaeology Manager and the Project Archaeologist, the Archaeologist will conduct archaeological projects within S'oelh Temexw - Sto:l? Traditional Territory and assist in the administration of the Sto:l? Heritage Policy through the identification and documentation of traditional Sto:l? places on the landscape. The Archaeologist will supervise the completion of field work and reporting; and take part in repository tasks, mapping, artifact analysis and organization of materials and samples in the Sto:l? Material Culture Repository.
This position reports to the Heritage Stewardship and Archaeology Manager and will be based out of the Chilliwack office. Some travel may be required for this position.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum bachelor's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology (with a focus in Archaeology).
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a field supervisor in Archaeology.
Familiarity and understanding of Sto:l? and/or other First Nations' culture, traditions and history, a commitment to learning more about Sto:l? culture and history is essential.
Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local governance policies/legislation related to heritage and First Nations.
Knowledge of the Sto:l? Heritage Policy.
Ability to maintain physical activity for extended periods of time in all weather conditions. This includes completing surveys in rough terrain, shovel testing, and excavation.
A familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) is an asset.
Level One First Aid training an asset.
Knowledge of MS software and Apple products.
Strong organizational skills and a team player with a strong background and demonstrated skills in communications, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to work under pressure and in an effective manner.
Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community representatives/members and representatives of other organizations.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and SSA.
Experience with off-road vehicles is an asset.
Drug and alcohol testing required.

Salary Range:
$28.00 - $37.00/hour
dependent upon qualifications and experience
