Katzie Development Limited Partnership (KDLP) is seeking to fill a full-time Supervising Archaeologist position. This position would be based out of the KDLP office located in Pitt Meadows BC with the majority of work occurring in the lower mainland. The majority of work will take place Monday to Friday. The candidate must be able to have a flexible schedule including overtime, weekends, and nightshifts when required.
The Supervising Archaeologist will play a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing archeological operations and will work collaboratively with First Nation Guardians and representatives on site.
The Supervising Archaeologist will also be responsible for collaborating with and reporting to the Permit Holder, Field Director, and other Supervising Archaeologists.
Responsibilities
Field Supervision of Junior Archaeologists and other field workers as needed.
Assisting with the drafting of archaeological permit applications.
Drafting archeological site forms, permit reports and other technical reports.
Liaison with First Nations and other stakeholders.
Assisting with Special Projects.
Scheduling work.
Actively contributing to the development of proposals.
Site mapping.
Recording and maintaining accurate field records and notes
Completing daily reports for the permit holder.
Aid in the collection and documentation of artifacts and ensuring respectful handling of culturally significant items.
Reporting unsafe work practices to an appropriate authority on site.
Assist in environmental work for the purposes of enriching and maintaining wildlife abundance, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and impact assessments.
Qualifications
A minimum undergraduate degree in Archaeology or a degree with equivalent experience.
Desire to work toward the attainment of Field Director status.
3-5 years of relevant experience in B.C.
Demonstrated technical and report writing abilities.
Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous Communities and First Nation partners.
Valid BC driver's license with a clear driver's abstract.
Access to a reliable vehicle.
Ability and willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and in challenging terrain or remote locations.
