Aquatic Programmer

The City of Delta is looking for a passionate and experienced Aquatic Programmer to join our team and help deliver high- quality aquatic programs to our residents. As an Aquatic Programmer, you will take on a leadership role in supervising, coordinating, and enhancing aquatic instructional and recreational programs at one of our busy aquatic facilities. This

temporary full-time position (approximately eight months in duration)

offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working with a dynamic team dedicated to aquatic excellence.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




Sound knowledge of lifesaving, lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR theory and practice. Strong understanding of aquatic programming principles, instructional techniques, and safety standards. Proven ability to lead, coach, and evaluate a team of aquatic professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, patrons, and community partners. Working knowledge of pool chemistry, filtration, chlorination, and heating systems, as well as facility maintenance procedures. Ability to act with sound judgment, initiative, and independence within established policies and procedures. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a focus on quality service and safety.




Qualifications




Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction, and pool operation and maintenance, plus sound related and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. OFA Level 1 certification preferred.




Required Licences and Certifications




Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (Province of BC) Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Lifesaving Society Instructor Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard - Pool Option Standard First Aid Certificate CPR Level C with AED




Candidates must have one of the following:




Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer, or National Lifeguard Instructor, or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer
