This posting is for one (1) Full-Time Temporary position with Benefits that may continue until October 31, 2025.The Edmonton Police Service Information Technology Branch is seeking one (1) skilled GIS Technologists to join the Geospatial Systems Unit team for a fourteen (14) month project term. We are looking for motivated, organized individuals with demonstrated technical and interpersonal abilities. As part of the team, you will contribute to enhancing and sustaining a secure, enterprise-level geospatial environment. Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in supporting the EPS GIS platform, including maintenance and basic enhancements. Help with organizing and tracking tasks for GIS IT support. Contribute to daily operations and participate in a 24x7 call-out schedule.
  • Engaging in project activities centered around GIS and actively contributing to the completion of project objectives.
  • Collaborate with users and team members to understand requirements and system needs. Contribute to maintaining and improving the spatial platform and data sets.
  • Cooperate with other IT teams to assist in maintaining spatial applications, data, and infrastructure, as well as guiding technology initiatives.
  • Take part in tasks related to designing, developing, and implementing new applications or changes to existing spatial platforms, applications, and data.
  • Share insights with senior staff on plans, programs, and goals.
  • Support the alignment of technology with organization objectives.
  • Assist in managing the enterprise GIS technology platform, including data management, troubleshooting, and basic configurations.
  • Ensure the technology capabilities are responsive to the needs of the organizationxe2x80x99s growth and objectives. Evaluate overall operations of information technology functions and offer suggestions for improving IT operations.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the service to ensure that all issues are addressed in a timely manner and proper coordination is carried out to minimize disruption of the GIS platform and solutions.
Qualifications
  • University degree in a related GIS discipline. Relevant diploma or certificate holders will also be considered. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in GIS, or GIS Diploma holders must have two (2) years of experience, and GIS certificate holders must have four (4) years of experience. (* Relevant GIS certificate programs generally have a minimum of 700+ instructional hours and will include relevant course work to the position. Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED is required).
  • Minimum of one (1) year providing application support. Experience providing 24x7 on-call support to a mission-critical application or system would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to excel within a team environment.
  • Geographic Information System Professional (GISP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • ESRI, Geocortex, and FME certification(s) would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of two (2) years working with ESRI software and spatial data management.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in a large organization with enterprise GIS Solutions, including disaster recovery and highly available solutions would be considered an asset.
  • Progressive responsibility working in an operational support team with complex, multi-server environments.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, teamwork, verbal, and written skills as well as a strong focus on customer service and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with a Police or Public Safety organization would be a significant asset.
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday xe2x80x93 Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program. This position requires an individual to be on call on a rotational basis to provide support for after office hours.Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade 044, $46.14 - $58.15 (Hourly), $3,115.10 - $3,925.50 (Bi-Weekly), $81,303.00 - $ 102,454.57 (Annually).
