OCIO consists of two groups: Investment Portfolio Management and Integrated Strategies.Investment Portfolio Management (IPM)The Investment Portfolio Management (\xe2\x80\x9cIPM\xe2\x80\x9d) group works on behalf of the CIO to maximize the returns of the Investment Portfolios at the targeted level of risk through providing dedicated support for each CIO-approved investment strategy, active portfolio design, investment signals, investment decision analysis and governance and communications.We manage our portfolio of active strategies (\xe2\x80\x9cActive Portfolio\xe2\x80\x9d) through which internal or external specialists can deliver incremental value-add returns through investment selection. Annually, the CIO reviews the mandate and performance of each investment strategy to refresh the Fund\'s capital allocations.Position Description:
We are presently recruiting for an Analyst/Associate to join the Investment Portfolio Management Group\'s - Public Markets team. As part of this dynamic team, you will work closely our investing Departments, particularly Active Equities (AE) and Capital Markets and Factoring Investing (CMF), and the broader TFM department to advance our mission to maximize the risk-adjusted returns of the Active Portfolios by ensuring that we have the best possible combination of active programs in the Fund and by acting as thought partners with the Investment Departments on investment strategy matters.Role-specific Accountabilities:
  • Supporting senior team members in the day-to-day activities for oversight of the Active Equities (AE) and Capital Markets and Factor Investing (CMF) investment programs including but not limited to investment assumption calibrations, performance measurement and market conditions monitoring.
  • Playing a key role in the financial/statistical modeling, portfolio analysis, and portfolio construction work related to long-term strategic allocation.
  • Support the active public market investment departments on special situations, projects, new opportunities, and problem identification (if any) related to investment strategy.
  • Supporting senior team members in evaluating AE and CMF investment programs for delivery against assumptions and objectives including short-term deployment budgets and the ID Portfolio reviews.
  • Analyzing performance and risk metrics across different AE and CMF programs to ensure reasonability.
  • Contribute to the design and development of analytic and reporting enhancements for tools related to portfolio monitoring.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in investment management, trading, acquisitions, consulting, or investment banking, with direct deal or investment experience and exposure to public investments considered an asset.
  • Experience in some programming languages is a requirement (Python etc.).
  • Expertise in modeling the financing and implementation aspects of various public market strategies with a particular emphasis on the differences between physical/synthetic equity products, futures, forwards, and swaps (inclusive of total return, equity and interest rate variations).
  • Exemplary communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to apply structured problem solving to address new problems.
  • Knowledge of managing and working with databases (Tableau etc.).
  • Knowledge of/experience with active investment management in public market and/or active program allocation processes is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Professional designation such as a CFA are considered an asset.
  • Organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated Word and PowerPoint skills and advanced skills in Excel.
