Job Description


**This posting is for one (1) full-time temporary position ending on or before October 19, 2024**The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires a highly skilled administrative professional to fulfill a unique and challenging position. This position will provide administrative support to the Deputy Chief in charge of the Community Safety and Well-being Bureau, which includes the Integrated Community Safety Division and the Social Policing Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing direct administrative support to the Deputy Chief in charge of the Community Safety and Well-being Bureau.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when dealing with extremely sensitive and confidential information.
  • Manage communications and correspondence (voicemail, email, mail)
  • Assist in formatting, preparation, and proof-reading of documents.
  • Coordinate and assist with attendance reports and vacation schedules.
  • Maintain the calendar for the Deputy Chief by scheduling all meetings, engagements, and events.
  • Coordinate meetings by booking conference rooms, providing technical support for virtual attendees, arranging refreshments, and preparation and distribution of meeting materials.
  • Attend meetings and track action items and create meeting minutes.
  • Tracking and organization of confidential documents, diary dates and following up on deadlines within the Bureau.
  • Assisting in making travel arrangements, including preparing travel documentation, and making reservations.
  • Preparing travel expense claims, reconciling credit card and petty cash requests.
  • Maintaining and ordering office supplies.
  • Coordinate and review of financial budget information and variance reports as required.
  • Working closely with Office of the Chief administrative assistants aiding Deputy Chiefs\xe2\x80\x99 and the Chief of Police, as required.
  • Communicate and coordinate processes with all Administrative Assistants in the Bureau.
  • Providing coverage for the other Administrative Assistants within the Office of the Chief.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college.
  • A minimum of five (5) years diversified word and information processing experience and providing assistance to a mid- to high-level executive.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Forms, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Trustworthy and a high degree of integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask within a cohesive team environment.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and the ability to adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:33.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.Salary Range:82M, Salary Grade: 001, $34.30 - $43.098 (Hourly), $2,315.90 - $2,909.10 (Bi-Weekly), $60,445.64 - $75,927.90 (Annually).General:
