Global Banking and Markets

Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.

Purpose of Job

The incumbent is responsible for the accurate set-up, maintenance and control of non-financial & financial "static data" associated with Foreign Exchange , Money Market and Derivatives credit facilities, maintained in the sub-systems, in a timely and efficient-manner for trading jurisdictions of North America, UK and ASIA. A high standard of quality is required at all times in order to reduce associated market / dealing and operational risk. Occasionally cover the early shift for BNS London, Mexico and Singapore.

Key Job Accountabilities

Performing all Static Data Validation maintenance / administrative duties as assigned including:

  • Generating weekly database exception reports
  • Investigate / follow up of all exception reports, as well as updating sub-system resulting from incoming responses.
  • Weekly update of Static Data Validation statistics
  • Identify trends / errors and suggest enhancements to process/ database. to improve overall efficiency.
  • Sundry input/updates to the sub-systems as required such as : Credit extensions on a/r , special projects, system product changes
  • Any other duties as assigned.

  • Standard Settlement Instructions
Verify/capture pertinent information from the credit authorizations, and other authorized source documentation to the related sub-systems including:
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of a credit authorization, disbursement instructions and confirmation preferences
  • Being responsible for reliable data entered into the sub-systems
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the various derivative, Money Market and FX products
  • Using the K2 B/F system and manual BF system in a reliable manner
  • Solid understanding of documentation required to onboard a counterparty in accordance with applicable regulations
Performing all other admin / routine duties as assigned from time to time, including:
  • Participate in BCP/BRP tests etc as called for including non-business hours/days occurrences
  • Participate in user acceptance testing activities for ongoing system enhancements or implementation of new systems.
  • Provide support in major project imitative through to completion as directed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Sound PC skills are required to communicate and operate within an automated, technology based work environment. Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • High efficiency, flexiblity and solid organizational skills are required to complete work in an accurate and thorough manner within deadlines
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
  • Solid analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment and contribute positively to team spirit and moral
  • Working knowledge of various derivative and foreign exchange products, as well as disbursement and confirmation processes
  • Flexible to work overtime on short notice to meet processing deadlines
  • Knowledge of WSS, K2, SCOTS, ADP, MUREX, Impact, MMI, Epsilon, GlobalOne systems would be an asset
