The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Tutoring Coordinator and the Assistant Coordinator, AMS Review Materials Creators help uphold the mandate of AMS Tutoring by supporting students' academic success.
ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS
Review Material Creators will report directly to the Tutoring Coordinator and the Assistant Tutoring Coordinator as required.

Physics (PHYS) 158 and 170
Economics (ECON) 101 and 102
WORK PERFORMED - BASIC DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS
1. Content Creation
a. Create asynchronous study material for assigned courses
i. Coordinate with Tutoring Coordinator and/or Assistant Coordinator regarding best format for the content
ii. Design, create, and publish content on the AMS Tutoring Asynchronous Study Materials canvas course along with any applicable feedback.
iii. Work produced must meet quality standards set by the Tutoring Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator before content is published.
b. Be familiar with Learning Outcomes for courses, skills required to meet said outcomes and ways to develop those skills.
2. Communication
a. Communicate concerns with the Tutoring Coordinator and/or Assistant Coordinator when they arise.
b. Respond to Slack messages/emails in a timely fashion.
3. Staff Training and Development
a. Attend and participate fully in all training sessions.
ON-GOING DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Development in areas including time management, and communication in written form.
Opportunities to network with various staff members of the AMS.
Growth in critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must currently be a registered UBC student with a minimum 80% in the course(s) they wish to create content for.
Concessions can be made for students hovering between 75-80% in a course based on other application components

A university transcript must be submitted alongside a resume and cover letter (may be an informal transcript from Workday).

REMUNERATION
AMS Review Material Creators will earn an hourly wage of $19.41, and $18.56 for time devoted to staff meetings and mandatory training sessions. Review Material Creators are expected to work on average 5 hours each week with additional hours depending on meetings scheduled with the Tutoring Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator. We anticipate this position to require 48 hours in total.
