CRIMINAL LAW:
-case law, legislation research; client intake; review and analyze disclosure; appear in Court for adjournments; undertake, prepare and support sr. counsel in sentencing and other submissions; attend and participate in Crown and Judicial pre-trials on your own after adequate training has been provided; research, synthesize produce pre-trial motions; prepare senior counsel for trial, related research; conduct simple trials after training.
FAMILY LAW:
-client intake and interviews; prepare / supervision of pleadings, conferences; motion materials; attend court; support sr. counsel for trial work; attend trials; conduct simple trials after training.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
-undertake regular docketing; write regular notes to files; respond to client / lawyer enquiries within 24 to 48 hours; contribute to a blog at least once a month; and such other administrative duties as may be requested.

-Ability to be a self-starter: you should be able to work on your own.
-You should have the ability to work independently.

-You should have the ability to research, read, review materials and learn on your own, with minimal hand-holding.

-You should be able to work effectively under a lot of constant pressure and deadlines and to see the humor of life in doing so.
-Team-work: you should have the ability to work with a large team and to get along with people.
-You should have outstanding research and writing skills, and the ability to produce quality work on a quick turn-around basis.
-Fluency in English; reading, writingand comprehension.
-Have a passion for family and criminal work; the ability to work on both of these areas equally.
-Be loyal to the firm and work hard!
PREFERABLE:
-Previous family / criminal law work experience.
-Enjoy living in a rural area; driving long distances especially in winter (there is no public transport).
