The position is for a
Junior Associate
in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be detail orientated, amicable, and will have the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
Individuals with an interest in expanding their advocacy skills and growing as barristers are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B).
Successful completion of an Articling term in Ontario.
Good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Must have Valid license to practice as a Lawyer in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario 1-3 years of litigation experience, including the understanding of the litigation process in the Small Claims Court, and in the Superior Court.
Familiarity with the Rules of the Small Claims Court and the Rules of Civil Procedure.* Works well under pressure.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to take initiative and proactively address file challenges.
Flexibility to handle multiple projects.
Knowledge of the Repair and Storage Liens Act and the Towing and Storage Safety Enforcement Actis an asset.
Responsibilities
Sole carriage and file handling of files in the Small Claims Court and the Superior Court.
Draft pleadings, including, Statements of Claim, Defences, Counterclaims, Affidavits, and Notices of Motion.
Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda
If interested, author articles for publication on the firm website or other legal database.
Communicate with clients and related parties.
Analyze and prepare risk assessments on files and delivery a strategy plans and legal opinions to clients.

The position of Junior Associate is remote. The ideal candidate should have the ability to commute as there will be times in which you will be required to attend at the office for training and development.
Full-Time.
Work Location: 5353 Dundas Street West, Suite 503, Etobicoke ON M9B 6H8.
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year, plus a non-discretionary billable target bonus. LLS also offers discretionary bonuses to its team based on performance.
Vacation: 3 weeks paid vacation.
