We are looking for a Human Resources Advisor to be responsible in providing human resource support to leaders and employees and provide coaching on the application of Human Resources Systems. This role is critical in ensuring the fair and consistent application of Human Resources policies, procedures and processes.

Reporting to the Human Resources, Team Lead, located at the Lac de Gras Mine Site, you will be working on a 1 week on/1 week off rotation. You will be responsible for:
  • Providing human resource support to Human Resource Business Partners, leaders and employees;
  • Assisting in implementation of human resources programs and policies within the business;
  • Supporting leaders and Human Resource Business Partners with the implementation of operational projects and recurring annual activities such as salary review, talent review and performance management;
  • Advising on human resources policies and procedures, employee relations, performance, labour and regulatory issues;
  • Providing coaching to leaders to support effective workplace relationships and increase skill level in employee management;
  • Conducting investigations into breaches of policy and procedure;
  • Leading special projects and other initiatives (e.g., employee engagement, performance and capability improvement, attractions and retention initiatives);
  • Identifying improvement initiatives in human resources processes.
What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or any related discipline;
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a similar capacity with HR Generalist function in a large organization;
  • Solid understanding of key HR drivers of business success;
  • Good working knowledge of a range of HR functions (HR, payroll, benefits, talent, etc.) and how they interrelate;
  • Knowledge and experience with the Workers Compensation Act of the Northwest Territories;
  • Excellent understanding of our "Duty to Accommodate" and the Human Rights Act, Canadian Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies and regulations;
  • Proven ability to successfully implement and manage short term and long-term disability cases;
  • Proficient working knowledge of HRIS (HR Information Systems) and employee database software;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, translating HR technical information for the target audience from senior leaders to operators.
Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
