Job Description


: Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager, Human Resources, this position acts as a business partner and advisor in various areas of HR while establishing and contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. The HR Advisor is responsible for assisting with the planning and directing of HR Initiatives, ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and assists in providing a learning environment. Above all else, the Human Resources Advisor must embrace, be aligned with and help enhance Casino New Brunswick\'s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supports corporate and site HR initiatives such as new program, process and procedure implementation.
  • Provides support to managers in the area of recruitment; including resume screening, interviews, and selection as requested.
  • Responsible for job postings, reference checks, licensing/clearing process, and the employment offer process.
  • Coordinates other recruiting and employer outreach and brand initiatives in consultation with the Manager, HR, including; advertising, job fairs, certain co-op work-terms, and community and external agency involvement.
  • Administers and tracks licensing renewals for existing employees.
  • Responds to employment reference requests and disclosure requests from HRSDC for Employment Insurance claims.
  • Manages all disability-related cases including Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability claims, all medical leaves, Workers Compensation claims, workplace accommodations and the return-to-work process.
  • Provides support to managers and department contacts responsible for administering the Company\'s Attendance Management Program.
  • Acts as a consultant and advisor to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and administers the GCGC Health and Safety program at the site.
  • Administers and promotes wellness programs
  • Coordinates and facilitates various internal and external training programs including Cultural Orientation and lunch & learn style presentations with internal or external presenters.
  • Facilitates/coordinates employee events, programs, fundraisers or charitable initiatives, including but not limited to the GEM Reward and Recognition program, Service Award program, staff events, etc. Completes all related administrative duties as necessary (eg produces certificates, awards, selects venues, maintains budget, reports, etc)
  • Attends department meetings with client groups and provide HR-related support to their respective divisions.
  • Participates in ad hoc HR projects as required by the Manager, HR including; gathering primary/secondary research, preparing reports and communication
  • Provides support to departments in the area of employee engagement and retention.
  • Provides HR advice and support to managers and employees on policies and processes.
  • Provides HR advice to employees and managers regarding issue resolution; refers to the Manager, Human Resources where necessary.
  • Provides input to policy changes relating to areas of scope including Disability Case Management and Attendance Management.
  • Assists in conducting employee exit interviews.
  • Facilitates employee RRSP educational sessions
  • Supports change management implementation.
  • Processes HR paperwork; updates the HRIS; maintains site HR files, etc.
  • Finds ways to play; you are serious about work, without being too serious.

  • Stays focused in order to be there for our guests and one another.
  • Delivers an exceptional entertainment experience to internal and external guests to ensure you make their day.
  • Accountable for preparing regular interval reporting on mandatory training requirements for staff at site level and providing to the site lead for review and execution.
  • Audits benefit eligibility for medical leaves.
  • Other exciting and challenging duties as required.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in HR or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • CHRP or other HR designation an asset.
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication.

  • Computer literacy in MS Office, HR systems experience an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a solid background in full cycle recruitment
  • An understanding and demonstration of HR as a strategic business partner.

Work Environment Conditions:
  • Use proper lifting, bending, pushing and pulling techniques
  • Perform job tasks and remain vigilant in the event of an emergency
  • The capabilities to multi task under time constraints
  • Work within a 24/7 operation with ability to work flexible hours when required (days, evening, nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Willing to submit to a criminal record check with results acceptable to our organization, standards and position, and/or obtain and maintain an NBLGC license registration
  • Must have employment eligibility in Canada
  • Must be 19 years of age or older

Licensing and Certification Requirements: Permanent employment may be dependent upon the authorization and continued approval of the Provincial/State Regulatory Bodies. New employees may be required to complete an application and, if required, will begin work only after regulatory approval is granted. Existing team members will reapply as necessary, and continuing work will be dependent upon successful reapplication. For positions that require additional certification, the appropriate level of certification will be maintained.
