PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.

PURPOSE OF POSITION



The purpose of the position of the Advanced Quality Planner is to plan the quality management of new product launches. The position is responsible for the APQP process and preparing all relevant documentation and leading the company through a successful PPAP review with PWO customers. The position will also be responsible for change management, gauge procurement and implementing all customer requirements.

The position also manages quality concerns with the customer during pre-production and ramp-up phase.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION



The position interacts with managers of all departments in order to solve problems and quality issues. The position is responsible for his/her work assignments and may direct the work of others within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS



Education

: Mechanical Engineering Degree. CQE certification or equivalent preferred. Training in related core tools (e.g. APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP) is a must.

Knowledge and Skills

: Strong problem solving and analytical skills are a must. Understanding of inspection methods, measurement gauge design and procedures is required. Geometric dimensioning and tolerance knowledge is required. Good understanding of Statistical Process Control. Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Communication Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills are required for normal technical/business communication. Should have sound computer skills. Must be able to travel and deal with different cultures. Must be able to work within cross-functional teams.

Nature and Length of Experience:

At least five years' experience in a similar job and manufacturing environment is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Primary customer quality contact. Primary supplier quality contact. Responsible for all APQP documentation related to new product launches (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, Inspection Plan, etc.) Responsible for reviewing prints and customer requirements and ensuring all requirements are implemented in the quality management system Responsible for the procurement of gauges and equipment required for quality processes, including approving gauge designs, conducting MSA studies, and performing gauge buy-offs at supplier locations when needed. Manages any updates or changes to gauges. Leads the change management process to ensure thorough implementation of the changes. Ensures quality planning conforms to IATF 16949, VDA and PWO standards. Primarily responsible for ensuring conformance of quality during prototype, pre-production builds; responsible for managing customer quality complaints and corrective actions. May be asked to support with quality concerns in ramp-up phase of project. Forms and leads root cause analysis and corrective action teams. (Project Manager support may be required depending on the failure mode.) Ensures new product launches are hitting target KPI such as scrap rate, PPM and cost of quality. Uses systems like SAP, IQS, and CAQ to implement the quality planning. Efficient use of electronic data collection equipment. Ability to communicate quality requirements and methodologies to the shop floor. Performs all duties within the 5S standards. Follows and performs to the instructions as outlined in the Work Area Reference Manual(s) applicable to the department. Follows and performs to the processes and instructions outlined in the Process House that are applicable to the department. Performs other duties characteristic of the job environment as requested by the Supervisor and Manager. Compliance to all HR company policies and procedure. Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy. Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Supervisor or Manager. Any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor and Manager.
