Intent of the process


This position is primarily located in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. Locations are varied and there\xe2\x80\x99s a possibility of working in another Parks Canada office and/or possibility to work remotely (virtually) from anywhere in the Northwest Territories with approval from management. To be discussed with the successful candidate.

The results from this competition may be used to staff similar positions in the future on an indeterminate, term, seasonal or acting assignment basis.

EDUCATION
An acceptable combination of education, training, experience, and/or traditional knowledge or a Secondary school diploma. Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience providing or coordinating the delivery of administrative support services**
  • Maintaining, tracking and managing files, records, correspondence; tracking, following up and consolidating responses for action items;
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Outlook, Excel and/or PowerPoint;
  • Experience providing guidance and recommendations to clients.

**Administrative support services is defined as, but not limited to: maintaining electronic filing systems; processing administrative requests; documenting and updating administrative procedures; preparing and collating background materials for meetings or cases, managing and tracking correspondence and briefing materials; managing e-mail accounts (sorting, forwarding, replying, following-up); organizing and coordinating meetings, travel and activities (hospitality & events requests); procuring office equipment and supplies, and other office related duties.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
  • Experience conducting accident investigations and workplace inspections;
  • Experience researching Occupational Health and Safety issues and providing guidance to various levels of management or Occupational Health and Safety committees in an operational environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
  • Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
