About us The Western Standard is Canada\'s largest independent daily news publication with bureaus in Calgary, Victoria, Edmonton, Regina and Ottawa. Our Calgary headquarters are the beating heart of our company, housing senior editorial staff and the operations division which oversees administration, customer service and finances. Position Overview The Administration Manager is the manager-level employee responsible for the Administration Department of the Western Standard. Reporting and Parameters The Administration Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. He or she will have their performance reviewed on an annual basis. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting, payroll, human resources (HR), administration, and office management for the company.
  • Oversee customer service for subscribers.
  • Provide executive assistance to the Publisher, President & CEO.
  • Meet with the Director of Operations and other Operations Division staff to assess the direction of the Administration Department, develop short and long-term goals, and ensure compliance with the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s company values.
  • Oversee the operations of the Administration Department and ensure all goals are met based on the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of the Western Standard\xe2\x80\x99s daily finances.
  • Prepare and analyze budgets and financial reports.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable.
  • Review and process expenses and reimbursements.
  • Oversee the general administration, record keeping and office management of the company.
  • Identify and address account discrepancies.
  • Create and maintain relationships with community and industry leaders and encourage investment in the Western Standard.
  • Maintain the integrity, truthfulness, and brand of the company.
Job Requirements
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • One to three years\xe2\x80\x99 industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software like QuickBooks.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, motivational abilities, and the ability to find and retain talented employees.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year Benefits:
