The Spaces & Experiences portfolio provides services that enrich life for everyone at the University of Toronto on our St. George campus by operating residences, food and beverage services and parking and transportation management. Our administrative team provides financial and administrative support for the Spaces & Experiences operations by processing financial transactions, analyzing financial data, supporting procurement decisions and ensuring the integrity of the overall financial reporting of the portfolio.

Your opportunity:

As our Accounting Supervisor AP and Procurement, you will report to the Manager, Finance and Administration, Spaces & Experiences, on the St. George campus. This role will manage staff and processes related to Accounts Payable and Procurement activities while working closely with our Spaces & Experiences operations. You bring a strong understanding of accounting processes, procurement principles and the ability to apply them. You possess a high level of professionalism with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct, monitor and advise staff to complete transaction processing in FIS applying the University financial policies, procedures in required timelines
  • Serving as a resource, assist departments in developing and issuing request for proposals and other procurement tendering
  • Extract and analyze complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
  • Apply the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements; be well-informed on purchasing and/or procurement policies and procedures, internally and externally
  • Monitor department budgets to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations, advising on budget constraints
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in a recognized accounting program and/or acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of recent and related experience with accounts payable and procurement, including managing staff, assigning work, monitoring budgets, reconciling accounts and extracting and analyzing data
  • Experience analyzing financial information and producing statistical reports in a multi-business operations
  • Experience with procurement policies and procedures to provide direction, support and sound judgement to assist in decision making
  • Experience in processing and reconciling financial transactions
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office software, especially with Excel
  • Advanced skills and knowledge, working with FIS (SAP) or similar ERP systems
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, planning and time management skills to meet competing deadlines
  • Strong aptitude for numbers, analysis and processes
  • Sound judgement, excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated strong client service commitment to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in a professional environment
  • Ability to apply knowledge of HST/GST when reviewing, coding or creating transactions for processing
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Knowledge and experience of residence, food service and parking operations
  • Knowledge and experience in ancillary operations at a university
  • Familiar with legislated purchasing requirements for Publicly Funded Organizations in Ontario
  • SAP experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of University policy and procedures (GTFM)

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 -- $76,284 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,556. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
