Job Overview

You balance a sound accountancy experience with a commercial understanding of the business. You will be accountable for ensuring that our financial statements reflect the reality of our operations. You will be the guardian of our balance sheet and our cash. You will drive and own all the processes involved in the recording, control, reporting, and payment of our obligations.

Success in this role means accurate and timely financial information, clean audit report and balance sheet reconciliation, correct and timely payment of employee\'s salaries and taxes, robust internal control process.

Reporting to

Vice President of Finance

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordination and review of the month-end reporting procedures
  • Ensure compliance to ASPE rules
  • Review of all month-end reconciliations
  • Cashflow forecasting and monitoring
  • Preparation/review of tax and other statutory returns
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements and reporting to Group
  • Manage the audit of the financial statements at the end of the financial year
  • High-level authorisation of payment runs
  • Validate Intercompany transactions
  • Liaise with Group and other departments as required
  • Review of bad debts, provisions, and estimates
  • Approval of revenue recognition
  • Approval of Accounts Payable suggestions
  • Review of monthly accruals and journals
  • Control and approve all taxes calculations and filing
  • Manage relation with CRA, Service Canada, WSIB and other institutions as required
  • Manage relation with banks and the insurance company that underwrites the services
  • Variety of ad hoc tasks, directly supporting the PBS senior management
Skills and Experience Required
  • Must have a recognised accountancy qualification or can demonstrate an equivalent experience
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload for self and team
  • Experience in leading and coaching a team of accountants
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of financial reporting procedures
  • Ability to use the various mainstream finance and reporting tools: Excel etc.
  • Able to bring a commercial mindset approach into a finance team
  • Ability to manage people whilst being part of a busy team
  • Possess strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate strong process-driven methodologies and a good understanding and use of systems to drive efficiencies into the department \xe2\x80\x93 essential for the rapid growth and development of this business
