Accounting Manager

Our client, a BC owned company, is seeking a new Accounting Manager to join their Finance and Accounting team. Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the accounting books and records and financial reporting for multiple companies.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Prepare and maintain reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare monthly consolidation
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
  • Analyze and explain monthly results for each department against prescribed comparatives
  • Liaise with cost owners to provide and interpret data
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Prepare and enter journal entries
  • Reconcile bank accounts daily
  • Prepare weekly cash forecast reports
  • Support staff with troubleshooting questions
  • Review of coding of accounts payable against budget
  • Review and follow up of accounts receivable aging
  • Ensure accuracy of GST and PST filings
  • Complete regulatory reporting on time and accurately
  • Review staff timesheets and staffing levels to ensure operational continuity of critical duties
  • Work with external auditors - prepare all audit materials and be principal liaison with auditors
  • Ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with agreements, policies and procedures, and controls
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 7-10 years of work experience
  • Having a CPA would be considered an asset
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of full cycle corporate accounting
  • Working knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local sales tax requirements
  • Experience leading external audits
  • Must be able to work independently to resolve issues and present solutions
  • Sound judgement and superior time management skills
  • Superior communication and rapport building skills
  • Financial analysis experience - demonstrated resourcefulness to analyze results
  • Consolidation, budgeting, and forecasting experience
  • Experience working in custom ERP systems
  • Experience working in multi entity environment and setting up accounting systems
  • Experience in joint venture and partnership accounting an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Management and or supervisory experience
  • Superior critical and logical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
