Work Environment and Typical Schedule

:

Full-time, based in-office at Discover Canada Tours' downtown Vancouver headquarters. Typical hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:30 pm or 8:30 am-5:00pm Please note there are instances where you could be assigned Saturday or Sunday duties occasionally depending on the operational needs of the company. FAM tours may also take place over the weekend.

:

The Accounting Assistant position is to support the operation of the Accounting department by completing basic day-to-day accounting functions.As an Accounting Assistant, your core responsibilities include:

??Count the cash collected / verify the credit card payment and ensure that payment for tours collected by the sales team is correct ??Recording cash and credit card payments in the accounting system ??Verify and solve payment discrepancies ??Check the tour guides' sales report after the tour and ensure the accuracy of their collection ??Recording of expenses, checking invoices and preparing payment cheques to suppliers ??Reconciling credit cards ??Prepare a deposit for banking ??Maintain and update accounting spreadsheets ??General filing of receipts and disbursement vouchers

Qualifications

:

Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident preferred; valid work visa with at least 1-2 years accepted). Post-secondary credentials or current enrollment in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or similar programs. Minimum 1 year of work experience in a computerized accounting position. Minimum 0.5 year of work experience or course projects/co-op/internship/volunteer work in an accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support role. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet/database tools. Experience using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) is an asset. Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and confidentiality.
