Smithers Toyota is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Assistant to support our dealership's financial operations. Reporting to the Senior Accountant and working closely with our central accounting team, this role is key to keeping our numbers accurate, our records organized, and our team supported through a busy and evolving operation. We are a growing dealership in a unique transition phase -- with new energy, solid structure behind us, and a leadership team that values clarity, accountability, and the people who help us move the ball forward. What You'll Do:

Process vendor invoices with accuracy and timeliness Support payment runs and maintain good standing with vendors Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable balances Assist with receivables follow-up and aging reports Maintain well-organized records for audits and internal reporting Handle daily bank reconciliations Assist in general ledger maintenance and month-end tasks Prepare and distribute accounting reports as needed Work with department managers and internal stakeholders to support day-to-day financial needs Bring a calm, steady presence to a team that values trust and dependability

What You Bring:

2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (dealership experience is an asset) Proficiency in accounting software (PBS is ideal, but training available) Strong Excel skills and general comfort working with numbers and data Good communication -- both written and verbal Reliability and a strong sense of ownership over your work Ability to work independently and contribute meaningfully within a team
