Position Summary:
The Accounting Assistant provides essential administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer in managing the Foundation's financial operations. This on-site role focuses on timely and accurate accounts payable processing, reconciliation of bank accounts, investment portfolios and online donations, journal entry preparation and fund reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced with accounting systems, particularly with Blackbaud's nonprofit system Financial Edge.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Biweekly accounts payable processing
Weekly reconciliation of online donations from all giving platforms with bank deposits and prepare and enter all related journal entries
Monthly bank reconciliations for all Foundation accounts, including all related journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Monthly reconciliation of the Foundation's investment portfolio, including preparation and entry of all related journal entries as well as updating the investment portfolio workbook
Monthly review and update of all other supporting schedules including journal entries
Generate and distribute quarterly fund balance reports to all fund custodians, ensuring accuracy and transparency
Maintain organized digital and paper records of all journal entries and reconciliations
Assist with other accounting tasks and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit or foundation setting
Degree in Accounting (DEC, Bachelor's) an asset
Familiarity with accounts payable procedures and controls
Strong working knowledge of Financial Edge (or similar accounting software)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with spreadsheets and formulas
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
A team player with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
Proficiency in French and English (written and verbal)

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
