Job Description


We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our finance team! In this vital role, you will support the organization's financial operations by managing data entry, processing transactions, and assisting with various accounting functions. Your enthusiasm and precision will help ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and smooth day-to-day financial activities. Perform data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions using accounting software such as Expert It ,Excel. Reconcile accounts on the balance sheet, including bank statements, accounts payable, and receivable ledgers Assist with journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and month-end closing processes in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro; ensure accurate payroll processing and tax compliance Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues related to account reconciliation and financial data integrity Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements, for review by senior accountants or auditors Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, credit analysis, and financial concepts relevant to nonprofit or governmental accounting environments



Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or Ceridian; familiarity with systems like Workday or UltiPro is a plus Strong understanding of GAAP standards and governmental accounting principles Knowledge of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance procedures preferred Experience with payroll management systems like ADP or Paychex; ability to process payroll accurately and efficiently Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping techniques Ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, and journal entries confidently Strong math skills combined with a solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits and account analysis Familiarity with various financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or Ceridian is highly desirable Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and assist in audit preparations or tax-related tasks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.57-$26.36 per hour
