Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accountant, will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing data, and ensuring financial operations run smoothly. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and has a solid understanding of general finance and accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential areas of improvement Reconcile balance sheet accounts and identify and resolve discrepancies Support the preparation and filing of commodity tax returns Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts Monitor and track expenses to ensure adherence to budgets Assist with all audits, providing documentation and explanations as required Analyze financial data to support decision-making processes and provide insights on financial performance Provide recommendations for improving financial efficiency Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Assist in month-end and year-end closing process

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting or related role. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal control requirements required Accounting experience in a retail environment is an asset Strong understanding of financial principals, reporting and data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity and attention to detail. A team player who is accountable, adaptable to changing parameters, has a drive for results attitude and values working in a collaborative environment * Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
