Accountant - $55,000 per annum:
Business Overview \xe2\x80\x93 ONIT Energy Ltd.
We are a boutique Natural Gas and Electricity Supplier/ Retailer that provides Price Stability, Leveraged Index and Structured, Physical products to small and midsize commercial consumers in Ontario. With a combined 65+ years of industry experience, we provide our customers with the benefit of our collective experience, technical prowess, trading expertise, product ingenuity, and operational efficiency while still being able to provide the best customer service in the industry coupled with the most competitive prices.

The Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of internal financial reporting files for the Company and its related entities, including but not limited to: bank reconciliation and payment preparation, vendor entries, commission and payroll processing, and auditing of contest displays.
Job Requirements
Internal Reporting
  • Preparation of bi-weekly payroll and commissions;
  • Update vendor and employee records for additions or terminations.
Financials
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and related journal entries;
  • Update accounting books and records;
  • Weekly and monthly payment preparation for manager review.
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable
  • Preparation of the accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-ledgers;
  • Ensure proper authorization of expenses, and coordinate proper sign-off for all payments;
  • Prepare vendor payments, including cheques, wire transfers and EFTs;
  • Summarize credit card payments, including review of supporting documents.
Contest Auditing
  • Review contest displays for accuracy, including monthly testing of results.
Other
  • File and maintain all documents;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience Requirement
  • College or University Degree preferred
  • Pursuit of Professional Accounting Designation considered an asset
  • At least 1 year experience with financial statement preparation
  • Experience with MS Office suite of products with an emphasis on Excel skills
  • Experience with financial software, including QuickBooks
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, comfortable in dealing with various levels and departments within the organization, comfortable in offering suggestions for improvements
  • Organized and effective time management skills
  • Able to meet strict reporting deadlines
This is a Full-time Position: 9:00am \xe2\x80\x93 5:00pm; Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday
