Job Title: Senior Accountant Company: Liberty Tax, Private Location: North York, Ontario Job Type: Contract, Hourly Wage Hourly Wage: $40.00 - $45.00 Schedule: Monday to Friday Overview: A local firm of taxation professionals in North York, offering a full range of accounting services, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract position. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the staff\'s work duties and ensuring the smooth operation of the firm. The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation and a strong background in public/corporate accounting, along with previous managerial experience. Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage a team of three to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
• Oversee the preparation of year-end engagements, tax returns, working papers, and financial statements for clients in various businesses and non-profit enterprises.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with firm and regulatory standards.
• Foster and maintain strong client relationships, addressing their needs and suggestions related to engagements.
• Identify new business opportunities and growth potential with existing clients.
• Remain up to date on all accounting and reporting standards along with legislations as they may change year to year
• Conduct internal audits monthly as required by the business

Qualifications:

• CPA designation with comprehensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Minimum of five years of public accounting experience, including the ability to organize, manage, and review client assignments.
• Proven managerial experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Word and Excel), Caseware, Caseview, and Taxprep.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) reporting standards.
• Good working knowledge of the Income Tax Act.
• Strong knowledge of business, accounting, and management practices along with excellent communication skills.
