The
Accountant
will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records. Reporting directly to the
Financial Controller
, the ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank statements
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial data
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
Analyze variances and provide explanations to management as needed
Assist in maintaining the general ledger and journal entries.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy in transactions.
Reconcile bank statements and other accounts on a monthly basis.
Provide support in internal and external audits.
Assist in the preparation of various financial statements.
Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, or equivalent)
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
CPA designation or working toward CPA is considered an asset
Experience in agriculture or produce industry is an asset but not required
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
