DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the Corporate Accounting team reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Accountant, Corporate Accounting will complete full cycle accounting for several corporate entities and provide accounting support for the aviation department. Assisting with other special accounting and reporting projects may also be required.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

Accounting/Financial

Responsible for performing day-to-day functions related to full cycle accounting for several corporate entities, including foreign functional currency, with minimum assistance. Key activities include:

• Completes month end journal entries including accruals; recurring/ad hoc reconciliations
• Prepares analysis and reconciliation of accounts
• Prepares the upload into the consolidation software and ensures that any elimination concerns are addressed in timely manner
• Prepares relevant audit packs and variance analyses for quarterly external reporting
• Prepares the annual budget and monthly financial forecasts for the aviation department working closely with the aviation team
• Prepares annual budgets for the corporate entities responsible
• Prepares average share calculation for ATCO and CU shares
• Documents and continually improves accounting and reporting processes

Business Support

Apply knowledge, initiative and strong interpersonal skills to deliver high quality customer service:

• Work as a business partner to provide support to interpret financial results and develop forecasts and budgets for the Aviation Department
• Effectively communicate accounting policies/procedures to non-financial personnel, including guidance on GL coding

WHO YOU ARE:

• Undergraduate degree in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field is required
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation is required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting environment
• Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
• Experienced working with large enterprise financial systems, preferably Oracle Fusion
• Advanced Excel skills and application (pivot tables, formulas, graphs, etc.)
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills and produces accurate, high-quality work while meeting tight timelines
• Work independently with minimal supervision applying good judgment and problems-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Highly motivated to learn, and takes initiative to advance business knowledge
