Job Description

:

The Manager, Corporate Accounting and Reporting reports directly to the Director, Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting. The main responsibility includes the corporate accounting and financial reporting functions, as well as overseeing the day-to-day Accounts Payable processing, while supporting and providing directions to the team.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly income statements, balance sheets, and other supporting documents
  • Responsible for preparation of ad-hoc reports and different analysis as required
  • Responsible for managing accounts payable team that covers accounts payable activities for different entities
  • Oversee the Corporate Accountant responsible for, preparation of a variety of note disclosures to the Consolidated Financial Statements, sales tax reporting, compliance with sales tax requirements, managing commitments within JD Edwards, day-to-day treasury functions including banking and investing, and other day-to-day corporate activities
  • Manage and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting - including monthly financial results, operating and statistical statements and reports
  • Provide reporting to assist business in finance and accounting related queries.
  • Present financial details in a reader friendly and accessible format
  • Support the regular financial information requirements to facilitate corporate consolidation as well as other finance related requests
  • Coordinate and provide information as requested for completion of internal and external audits
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts including variance explanations
  • Supervise and approve bank reconciliations
  • Remain up to date with International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS"), assists in the assessment of new or changing standards on the Company
  • Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures as required
  • Supports the budgeting process
  • Involved in special financial analysis projects, as required
  • Performs special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The preferred candidate for this role possesses the following qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, finance or accounting required.
  • Professional accounting designation required (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA).
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years of experience managing accounting processes and financial reporting in a medium to large organization.
  • Experience in the real estate sector is an asset.
  • Exposure to IFRS preferred.
