Specifically, this individual will be part of a Business Development team to aid the VP, Business Development in achieving the team's goals. The ideal candidate will be a natural salesperson looking to grow their career within Construction & Development Real Estate financing, with a passion for building business through relationships and consultative selling.The RoleThe Account Manager will be responsible for the below duties:Support the VP, Business Development in Sourcing and Arranging Transactions Identifying new clients and building a sales pipeline of qualified Developer Opportunities Maintain and grow existing Client base Source, develop and maintain relationships with Lending partners. Deliver suitable risk-adjusted lending opportunities matching with Lender investment mandates. Ensure Borrowers understand the nature of the obligations they are committing to when entering a mortgage agreement with our Lenders.Support Project Evaluation and Underwriting Obtaining and evaluating Borrower project specific financing information (i.e., budget, anticipated cashflows, valuations, Borrower credit status, capital structure, security, sales, market, cost comparable, overall risk profile, etc.) with sophisticated financial models/databases for prospective project/financing opportunities. This also includes providing in-depth research materials to support market conditions and potential legislative/regulatory changes impacting potential or existing projects. Researching and evaluating project analysis provided by Business Development team or questions as required by Senior Management. Communicate with the Borrower and Lender stakeholders/clients to outline project strengthens and weakness and respond to questions as necessary. Review loan documents. Drive the execution of the financing transaction closingsSupport Project Monitoring / Loan Compliance As part of the relationship management team, ongoing monitoring of project performance against loan agreements, budget, timelines, and key metrics. Assist in the development and maintenance processes to identify or forecast potential issues, and highlight these concerns with the Business Development team, and broader Senior Management team. Continue to evaluate options which would create value for either the Borrower or Lender through reduced costs or improved risk mitigation. Ensure Borrower meets its ongoing compliance requirements and drive closure of outstanding itemsReporting Provide regular project reporting re. pipeline activities and management, forecasting, anticipated transaction closings/fundings, repayments, stage of completion, loan compliance, and other analysis as required for the purpose of forecasting or other business/compliance reporting requirements. Assemble and present due diligence materials and professional marketing materials for presentation to prospective Lender clients. Assist with Accounting and Financial Reporting for the MarshallZehr related entities as required.What Are We Looking For? 2+ years experience in business development or account management in financing or commercial credit (real estate lending/mortgage industry an asset) or finance with a formal education majoring in real estate finance, analysis, valuation, cost consulting Organized, ability to manage multiple projects and pipeline simultaneously Exceptional communicator, with an attention to detail Strong understanding of the construction and development process, associated financing metrics financial modeling skills. Experience drafting and reviewing legal financing documents. Expected to continually assess and aid in the development and improvement of organizational processes and methods. Assisting other members of the MZG team where required.
