We are searching for a proactive professional who is passionate about assisting students as they progress through their academic journey. Working in Downtown Toronto, the Academic Advisor will be responsible for developing strategies for the student's overall academic success by bridging the gap between the various service providers on campus and providing one-to-one consultations and counselling to students to follow up on their academic progress throughout the semester. This role also includes guiding students in scholastic decisions and helping them analyze and determine strengths and ensuring that students are progressing towards their goals.
Responsibilities
Meet with students from various programs to plan for upcoming semesters and academic schedules.
Assist students in planning a program consistent with their strengths and goals.
Identify options for students to satisfy specific program requirements; evaluate and make recommendations on petitions and adjustments to their program of study.
Provide information to students regarding the process and procedures they must follow for academic appeals and other related issues.
Interpret and explain college policies and procedures and their effect on the academic progress of students.
Monitor academic progress of students and follow up for any report of unsatisfactory work, identify current and potential needs or problem areas, and refer students to appropriate campus resources for assistance.
Maintain and update advising profiles for all students in programs which includes a summary of course planning for the students.
Proactively contact and be accessible to student advisees on a regular basis.
Amenable to work extended hours during the pre-registration advising.
Assist students through the application process, providing relevant information and guidance, and ensuring they receive exceptional customer service.
Other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Minimum of 1 to 3 years experience in academic advising, mentoring, student counselling, development, and education.
Administrative experience in a post-secondary educational setting
Experience in Microsoft Office applications, Outlook email. Desired Knowledge and Skills:

High level of ethics, diplomacy, and confidentiality
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in Canvas or similar Student Learning Platforms
High attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to quickly assimilate and employ diverse IT modules
Positive collaboration with students, faculty, and staff
Good problem-solving skills
Adaptable to change
