We are seeking an experienced Course Superintendent to lead all aspects of ground maintenance and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess leadership & planning skills, budget management, and be passionate in the delivery of outstanding services to our members and guests while fostering a positive and safe course culture.
Skills and Qualifications:
Theoretical knowledge and success in turfgrass management obtained through recognized industry training and industry experience.
Member or eligible for membership in the Alberta Golf Superintendents Association, Canadian Golf Superintendents Association or equivalent.
Supervisor, leadership and mentorship training and experience is required.
Alberta Pesticide Applicator Certificate with landscape and/ or industrial classes is required.
Knowledge and experience with golf course and greens maintenance, construction, irrigation maintenance and operation.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to manage, service and repair golf course equipment
Duties:
Manage daily the maintenance team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in course maintenance.
Support the course manager by identifying staffing needs, hiring and training employees, and fostering skill development.
Lead, mentor, and encourage team members to achieve high levels of performance that align with and supports course objectives.
Develop and implement business strategies that align with course objectives.
Develop and implement annual maintenance plans and strategies within the approved budget to ensure optimal golf course conditions.
Coordinate with course manager and contractors to provide quality member and guest experiences.
Respond to user, neighbour and other concerns related to on-course issues, including safety.
Stay current of industry trends, design, and new technology to ensure the course remains relevant, accessible & safe for members, guests and staff as well as operationally efficient.
Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver golf course or social events.
Coordinate with the course manager in the implementation of management strategies to protect the club's assets and reputation, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, OH&S and company policies.
Develop and implement ongoing strategic extreme weather turf management strategies.
Prepare reports for the course manager and/ or executive/ board of directors regarding operational performance and strategic recommendations.
Experience
Proven experience as a Superintendent at a Western Canadian golf course.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
