CANADA SUMMER JOBS Job Title: Youth Development Coordinator Vacancies: 2 contract positions Pay Rate: $20.00/hour Position Type: Full-time Contract (8 weeks total, 35 hours a week) Start and End Date: July 3rd, 2023 - August 25, 2023 ? August 6th, 2022 Rotation #1: 8:30am-4:30pm Sunday to Thursday (1 position) Rotation #2: 11:00am-7:00pm Tuesday to Saturday (1 position) What is Wyndham House? Wyndham House is an organization that provides young people 16 to 25 with a spectrum of supports and services needed to overcome challenging times and difficult problems related to housing and homelessness. Wyndham House programs include two Permanent Supportive Housing Programs, an Emergency Shelter, a Housing Stability Outreach Team, an Integrated Youth Service Hub and a Care and Treatment Day Program. Wyndham House is a fast-paced and growing organization that works to prevent, reduce, and end youth homelessness, as part of the Built for Zero change effort, which is working to end chronic homelessness in Canada. Wyndham House provides high-quality case management, housing, and clinical supports to youth with a variety of needs and complexities. Job Overview: Reporting to Manager of Supportive Housing, the Youth Development Coordinator will provide a structured, cooperative, and safe residence for youth, by creating an environment of respect, responsibility, and supportive interactions. The Youth Development Coordinator will engage and support youth in academics, employment and/or volunteer positions for the duration of the summer, in addition to allowing youth to reach their full potential and building a healthy work/school and life balance. This position encompasses youth engagement and the ability to motivate and support youth?s abilities over the spring and summer months. Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide supportive guidance services and crisis intervention during critical moments
  • Ability to implement educational and behavioural interventions
  • Encourage and mentor youth to actively participate in summer school and volunteering
  • Working in partnership with clients to secure employment and/or volunteer positions with community partners
  • Identify an understanding of the issues homeless youth face and take into consideration the level of knowledge, readiness for change, and other potential contributing factors when providing support
  • Recommend appropriate community referrals to the Client Case Manager
  • Support youth in accessing services barrier free
  • Provide constructive and creative informal programming during evening hours
  • Ensure continuity of care by maintain accurate records, participating in case management, attending staff meetings, and communicating with the Program Manager regularly
  • Make certain the site always meets Public Health and WCSS standards
  • Participate in providing healthy and nutritious meals to the youth
  • Commitment to agency philosophy, values, and objectives
Job Skills and Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in a Social Sciences field is preferred
  • Operates from a youth engagement perspective
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of best practices when working with youth
  • Working experience with marginalized communities
  • An empathetic understanding of the sensitivities of youth, especially youth who identify as high needs populations
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and effective time management is a requirement
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources
Requirements:
  • Must be registered as a Full-time Post-Grad student come September 2023 in an accredited University or College
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and some weekends
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Must successfully pass a CPIC screening
  • Valid G Driver?s License and 2-million-dollar liability
  • Access to a vehicle is required
  • COVID-19 Vaccination (proof of vaccination is required)
