The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is seeking a dynamic individual as a YONA-Sistema Teaching Artist & Musical Creativity Associate for our Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta (YONA-Sistema) program. Job Summary: As a YONA-Sistema Teaching Artist, you will teach classes in your instrument of expertise, act as assistant conductor for the La Bruyere Orchestra (LBO), help arrange music for various YONA ensembles and manage the LBO music library. As a Musical Creativity Associate, you will support in the delivery of a range of Musical Creativity programming such as Summer Camps for Kids, Rusty Musicians Camp, B-Sides, Symphony for Kids, Education concerts, Open Dress Rehearsals, and Adopt-a-Player. What you will do:

• Lead rehearsals and concerts
• Support in the delivery of Musical Creativity programming
• Work with a team of colleagues to provide support for all students in the program
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary training preferably in music, education, or a related field
• Experience teaching with YONA-Sistema and have an understanding of music pedagogy
• Experience with orchestral conducting and creating arrangements suitable for various skill level of students on an array of orchestral instruments
• Knowledge of community outreach resources
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to engage with diverse youth
