##### YMCA Summer Camp Team Lead


Join our planning and lead team for YMCA Summer Day Camps! YMCA Summer Day Camps operate July 4 - August 22, with our Lead Team positions starting in either May or June. Spend your summer planning and running a fun program and making a difference in the lives of kids aged 6-13!


We are hiring a Program Team Lead and a Logistics Team lead for each of our 2 camps: Super Summer Day Camp is located at the Downtown YMCA; and Blackstrap Day Camp is located on Blackstrap Lake, with busing provided to & from Blackstrap from various areas around Saskatoon.

The YMCA is looking for energetic, dynamic, and dedicated individuals who will join our camp staff team and serve as a Team Lead. There are 4 positions within this role at our 2 YMCA day camps: Super Summer Program Team Lead, Super Summer Logistics Team Lead, Blackstrap Program Team Lead, and Blackstrap Logistics Team Lead. Each Team Lead will be responsible for leading and supporting staff and campers, planning and delivering programs, and solving problems as they arise. Team Leads must be self-motivated in a fast paced, changing environment with the ability to take initiative and support the YMCA values, mission and vision. The Role of the Team Lead is to: • Plan, deliver, and support daily programs for Day Camp participants following YMCA objectives.

• Communicate effectively with campers, families, and staff

###### Responsibilities for All Team Leads:

• Provide fun, positive and active leadership to campers and Camp Leaders - providing Camp Leaders and other Team Leads with additional support when needed.
• Be responsible for the safety and security of all participants in your care, ensuring all Camp Leaders are following YMCA Policies and Procedures
• Develop, lead, and participate in Camp Leader Staff training & complete Y Canada Child Safeguarding Course, Levels 1 & 2 (online)
• Communicate with and motivate Camp Leaders to perform their best each day; hold daily debrief meetings to troubleshoot and plan for the next day.
• Ensure completion of all paperwork each day including sign-in/sign out forms and behavior and incident reports, submitting completed paperwork to the Camp Manager.
• Maintain communication with Camp Manager and Child & Youth Program Director
• Some overtime may be required.
• Administrative tasks as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities for Program Team Leads:

• Plan (May-June) and execute (July-Aug) weekly activity, craft, and game plans appropriate to the program, skill level and age of participants.
• Purchase camp program supplies; maintain expenses within a given budget
• Set Up and Clean Up camp activities each day
• Lead circle time, crafts, activities, and games each day, or teach and delegate to camp leaders as necessary
• Complete weekly program evaluations and reporting
• Help the Logistics Team Lead in problem solving and supporting campers, staff, and families as needed.

Responsibilities for Logistics Team Leads:

• Troubleshoot and solve problems that arise throughout the camp day.
• Assist in behavioral management of campers; contacting caregivers when needed.
• Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of facilities; perform maintenance work as needed.
• Contact contracted services (buses, field trips, porta potties, etc.) as needed.
• Purchase camp supplies and equipment; maintain expenses within a given budget.
• Assist in managing the staff schedule and coordinating daily breaks.
• Help the Program Team Lead in leading camp activities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
• Current criminal reference check including vulnerable sector search
• At least 1 year of previous experience and positive references related to working with children/youth
• Experience in leading and supporting staff.
• Effectively communicate with children and adults.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Reliable transportation, access to a vehicle, and comfortable with driving on highways and gravel roads.
